CLI Tools Catalog
Cross-platform CLI tool install profiles for DevCentr, powered by the Equivalence Engine cli domain and the equivalence-rules-cli catalog.
Purpose
Developers browse a catalog of common CLI tools (Turso, Convex, Vercel, Netlify, gh, glab, cloud CLIs, IaC, containers, immutable package managers, and more). DevCentr resolves the correct install command for the detected host context, runs it interactively, and records stdout/stderr under ~/.dev-center/install-audit/ for long-term auditing.

Host contexts
Contexts mirror filesystem equivalence layout: windows/winget, macos/homebrew, linux/debian/default, linux/nix/default, linux/guix/default, default/npm-global, etc.
Each context declares:
-
mutable—falsefor Nix and Guix (immutable);truefor winget/brew/apt -
detect— command DevCentr runs to see if the context applies
When Prefer immutable installs is enabled (default), resolution prefers Nix/Guix methods before winget/brew/apt.
Equivalence Engine resolution
equivalence-engine --domain cli \
--rules-repo https://github.com/dev-centr/equivalence-rules-cli \
--to linux/nix/default turso
Pass --prefer-mutable to favor traditional package managers.

Tool Status Overview (pageDashboard, index 3):
-
Installed — tools from the catalog where
verifyCommandsucceeds -
Catalog — browsable install profiles grouped by category; Install runs the resolved command interactively
Refresh catalog pulls latest definitions from Git (24h TTL, same pattern as Toolchain Advisor).
Tool schema (SDL)
See equivalence-rules-cli/docs/SDL-CONVENTIONS.adoc.
Each tool block: id, name, description, categories[], verifyCommand, launchCommand, and install { method { context command … } }.
