entity

An entity is separate from the login. A user creates one, or joins one. Membership is the relation between them. The plan, the storage, and the permission to apply a purchase live on the entity.

The picker says Choose an entity: It lists every entity the signed-in user can see. Entities they can see but cannot apply a plan to are shown and disabled. Seeing one is not permission to bill it.

Buying a subscription or giving one does not stamp the buyer’s user. The buyer chooses an entity they are allowed to change. A gift stores the recipient email so that person can sign in, then they choose an entity they are allowed to change.

"Entity" is the product word, including on the picker. In a model it means a distinct thing. It does not mean a database row.

Not an account. Not a workspace. Not an organization in the UI.
